Who is eligible for assistance?
Jen's Friends accepts applications from any individual who is currently diagnosed with cancer or has been in remission for less than one year.
In addition, all candidates must meet the following two criteria:
1. Residency: an applicant must be a resident of the Mount Washington Valley region. Specifically, the individual must live in one of the following towns, which are grouped according to school districts:
* NH School Administrative Unit 9: Albany, Bartlett, Chatham, Conway (Center Conway and North Conway), Eaton, Hart's Location, and Jackson.
* NH School Administrative Unit 13: Freedom, Madison, and Tamworth.
* ME School Administrative District 72: Brownfield, Denmark, Fryeburg, Lovell, Stowe, and Sweden.
*The disbursement Committee will consider applications from those living in adjacent towns.
2. Limited Healthcare Coverage: an applicant must have limited or no health care coverage, and/or have financial difficulty due to cancer.

The James Richard Closner Foundation, a community based non-profit organization located at the Closner Business Park in La Feria, Texas, 15 miles north of the Texas-Mexican border in the Rio Grande Valley. The foundation was created in 2002 with the intent to help indigent cancer patients of all ages, men, women and children from throughout the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo Texas. * Macmillan Cancer Support gives grants to people with cancer who are in financial difficulties. Applications are usually made by health and social services staff on behalf of the patient. Macmillan nurses and Marie Curie nurses could also be able to help.
* Sargent Cancer Care may give financial help to parents of children with cancer.
* A patient who's been in the armed forces may obtain a grant from the Soldiers, Sailors & Airmen's Families Association , the Earl Haig Fund or the RAF Benevolent Fund.
* The Independent Living Fund helps with the costs of help at home. Applications have to be made through your local social services department.
